Christ describes Himself as a door through which souls enter abundant life.

Scripture
“I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.” — John 10:9

Reflection
This image is sometimes interpreted to mean that everyone outside visible Christianity is permanently shut out from God.

Yet a door is made to open, welcome, and lead somewhere.

Through Christ, Christians encounter divine love, forgiveness, truth, and new life. Faithfulness to this door should make Christians more welcoming, not more eager to close the door against others.

The interfaith perspective leaves room for God to meet sincere souls beyond the boundaries we recognize.
