Eternal life begins as a transformed relationship with God.

Scripture
“Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” — 1 John 5:12

Reflection
These words can be used to describe everyone outside Christianity as spiritually lifeless.

Yet the life revealed in Christ is recognizable: love of God, love of neighbour, forgiveness, sacrifice, truthfulness, and hope.

Christians may testify joyfully that they have found this life in Christ without claiming perfect knowledge of how God works in every other soul.

The interfaith perspective asks us to look for signs of spiritual life before pronouncing its absence.

Bahá’í teachings affirm that Christ brought divine life to humanity and that the same Holy Spirit renews civilization through all God’s Manifestations.

Recognize and encourage one sign of spiritual life in another person.
